Exciting News for 2025 at Atlas Physical Therapy!

Beginning January 2025, we will be adding Shockwave Therapy to our clinics in an effort to
further assist our patients in reaching their full potential in recovering and performance.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy or Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive
medical treatment that uses high-energy acoustic waves to promote healing and alleviate
pain in various musculoskeletal conditions.

What can it treat?

Shockwave has shown great results treating conditions including, but not limited to:
Plantar Fasciitis
Tendinitis
Tendinopathies
Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome
Back Pain
Radiculopathy
Muscle Spasticity
Breaking up Scar Tissue
Post Surgical Healing

How does it work?

The therapy uses a hand-held device to send high-energy waves to the targeted area. These
waves stimulate pain receptors, which helps reduce pain perception. The waves improve
blood circulation, metabolism, and the formation of new blood vessels, accelerating
tissue repair. Shockwaves help reduce inflammation and break down calcifications or scar
tissue in tendons and ligaments. Treatments last 5-10 minutes and 6-12 treatments are
required over the course of a few weeks depending on the injury and goals
