Yoga and Physical Therapy

Meditating in a yoga classAs yoga becomes increasingly popular around Denver and the United States we consistently get patients that are looking to improve their practice or return to pain free practice. Patients that practice yoga are usually more flexible, use breathing for relaxation/stress management and are generally more in tune with their bodies.

As a physical therapist I try to incorporate many different yoga positions and breathing techniques to help improve flexibility and stability during rehabilitation. Physical therapy can also help to educate individuals with varying injuries on what yoga positions may be beneficial or detrimental to their rehab.

Once physical therapy is completed and the patient returns to their practice, we can communicate with the yoga instructor to ensure a smooth transition. Talk with your friendly Atlas Physical Therapist about any pains limiting your practice!
